Tentative Schedule of Events

 

Thursday, February7

  • 8:00 am  Donuts and coffee
  • 8:30 am  Meetings begin
    • Seed Standards – discussion of standards changes suggested at the district WCIA meetings.  Recommendations from this group go to the Membership meeting for final action.
    • Keynote Speaker  Andrew Kniss, Assistant Professor of Weed Biology, Ecology, and Management
    • Seed Lab Advisory Group – an open meeting for people interested in the workings of the Wyoming Seed Analysis Laboratory.
  • Lunch provided by the WCIA.  Please RSVP at 754-9815 if you plan to attend.
  • Concurrent Sessions:
    • WCIA Board of Directors meeting – This meeting will cover scholarship applications, FFA Foundation support.  A report on the recommendations will be made at the Membership meeting.
    • University of Wyoming Stategic Planning Listening Session – Dr. Frank Galey would like to hear your comments and suggestions as to how the University could better serve your needs.
  • Banquet and Awards Presentations – This is an informal opportunity to visit with fellow seedsmen and with University administrators.  Please RSVP to 754-9815 if you plan to attend.

Friday, February 8

  • 7:00 am  Meetings begin
    • Pure Seed – an educational meeting.  Presentations on new releases from neighboring states, including the Bridger Plant Materials Center. 
    • Continental Breakfast – WCIA Lobbyist report during breakfast.
    • Membership Meeting – final actions are taken on proposals from the WCIA District, Pure Seed, Seed Standards, Board of Directors meetings.  Proposals can include WCIA activities, seed certification standards, and financial statements.
    • UW Reports – an opportunity to hear and discuss UW College of Agriculture activities with UW administrators.  Includes reports from the Dean of the College of Ag, Ag Experiment Station Director, Plant Sciences Department Head, Director of the Powell R&E Center, and Director of the Wyoming Seed Analysis Laboratory.
